The GPs practise together as a non-limited partnership and hold an NHS contract for General Medical Services (GMS) with NHS England.
GP Earnings
NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below. However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
All GP Practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Station View Health Centre during the year ended 30th June 2022 was £80,645 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs, 9 part time GPs and 1 locum GP who worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
Practice Manager
Judith Goldsworthy, manages the practice on behalf of the doctors.
Reception Manager
Samantha Maddox, leads a team of 13 receptionists working various shifts, who assist patients in making appointments, the ordering of prescriptions and general enquiries.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Various minor illnesses and ailments can be treated by Amy Mann, who have additional nursing qualifications and is a nurse prescriber. You may be advised to see an ANP instead of a doctor for many minor illnesses, as our ANP will be best placed to assist you with these quickly (same day).
Using our ANP service will also free up more GP appointments for those with more serious needs and allow more appointments to be made available in advance.
Ask at reception for details of the services available.
Practice Nurses
Our team of three practice nurses run all the screening clinics. They also carry out cervical smears, blood pressure checks and vaccinations. Health education is an important part of their work. The nurses also run asthma and diabetic clinics in conjunction with the doctors.
The nursing team includes:
Helen Gray RGN
Marie Gurney RGN
Health Care Assistants
Our health care assistants are qualified to perform a number of functions such as new patient checks, and height, weight and blood pressure readings. In addition, we have phlebotomists who run blood test clinics at the surgery by appointment.
Community Nurses
The community or district nurses, who are employed by the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, provide a specified range of general nursing services for the housebound.
Health Visitors
Our health visitors, who are also employed by the Trust, are trained in general health care and preventative medicine. They are particularly expert in child care and development. For an appointment telephone 0116 215 3217 and ask for the health visitors, between 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. For dates and times of clinics, see the noticeboard in the waiting area or speak to a health visitor.
Secretaries and Support Staff
The doctors are supported in their work by two part-time secretaries who prepare letters, deal with administrative queries and help summarise patient records. A small team of four other part-time staff assist with the general running of the practice including IT support, preparation of clinical rotas, document scanning, and finance and accounting.
